Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain, located in Magic Kingdom, was closed today after a guest was found unconscious on the ride.
The 48 year-old woman, whose name has not yet been released, was treated at the scene by Reedy Creek Emergency Services before being transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital.
While the condition of the unidentified guest is unknown at this time, park officials stated that the cause of her unconsciousness appeared to be as a result of a health issue, rather than an injury or trauma as a result from the ride.
In step with normal protocol, the ride has been shut down, and will undergo inspection and testing to confirm its safety, a routine procedure when a guest has become seriously ill or is injured.
Disney representative Andrea Finger spoke on behalf of the resort. “Our thoughts and concerns are with the guest and her family. We have sent a representative to the hospital to assist them with their needs,” she said.
