This past Saturday, all eyes were on Papenburg, Germany, as the world watched the Disney Dream float out of her dry dock and into the waiting waters of Meyer Werft’s shipyard harbor. But as it turns out, the weekend’s festivities didn’t end with the ceremony and fireworks.
On Sunday, over 400 children from the local community were treated to their very own dose of magic: Disney VoluntEARS hosted a special screening of the movie “Beauty and the Beast” just for them.
While Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck greeted the children, VoluntEARS were on hand to serve movie snacks and popcorn.
VoluntEARS saw the screening as an opportunity to give back to the children of the community, many of whom have parents who are employed by Meyer Werft.
Local children from Papenburg and neighboring Leer received special keepsake tickets to attend the screening and other special events held in their honor on Sunday.
The VoluntEARS of Disney Cruise Line look for inventive, fresh, and positive ways to impact the more than 20 communities that the cruise line frequents. They are dedicated to making a difference in these communities with their time and efforts.
