In July, we told you about expansion plans for Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa. Now, further details have emerged regarding these plans.
In the Waikolohe Valley pool area, a new pool, splash zone and water play areas will be added to expand the family fun for resort guests. Additionally, the resort plans to extend the deck space so that the pools “infinity edge” will be overlooking the adjacent lagoon. A new misty grotto will be installed where guests can enjoy the sunset, while at night glimmering lights will appear on the grotto ceiling and bottom of the pool.
The kids’ splash zone will also be remodeled to resemble tidal pools and feature rainbow water jets as well as images of tidal pool creatures on the pool floor. Hidden Menehune (the legendary little people of the islands) will also be visible for those who look close enough. Additional deck space, chairs and cabanas will also surround the new water features.
Finally, two new eateries will be coming to the resort. One of them will be located next to the current Wailana pool and serve continental breakfast as well as lunch and dinner selections featuring sandwiches, salads and snacks that can be consumed on the beautiful outdoor patio. The second quick service eatery, which will be located beachside, will offer grab-and-go snacks.
The expansion will begin in September and is slated for completion in mid-2013.
