The University of Central Florida is hosting the 10th annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge Presented by Disney at the Bright House Networks Stadium on August 31.
This Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) football matchup will feature the North Carolina A&T Aggies from the Mid-Easter Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the Alabama A&M Bulldogs of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
The football challenge is a celebration of diversity, higher education, and football, and it’s held during the opening weekend of college football season. The 2014 event is expected to attract more than 20,000 people to the game.
UCF’s Board of Trustees approved the use of the college’s stadium for the event while renovations on the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium are on-going.
The MEAC/SWAC Challenge Presented by Disney is an HBCU tradition that celebrates contributions of historically black colleges and universities to education, athletics, the arts, and communities.
This year’s event spans four days and includes an alumni recognition reception, high school career seminars, a band showcase, and the Sunday football game which will be televised on an ESPN network.
Disney has sponsored the MEAC/SWAC Challenge for the past seven years as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to diversity, education, and community.
