Typhoon Lagoon’s Shark Reef Closing October 3

typhoon lagoonIf you’ve ever dreamed of swimming with the sharks in the Shark Reef at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon you have a few weeks left to live out your dream.

Shark Reef is closing forever on October 3 to make way for a new attraction in the water park.

The new attraction – Miss Fortune Falls – was announced earlier in the summer.

At Shark Reef guests can snorkel with tropical fish, stingrays, and sharks in a man-made coral reef that is housed in a 362,000 gallon saltwater pool. The attraction has been part of Typhoon Lagoon since the water park opened in 1989.

Miss Fortune Falls is a family-style raft ride that will take guests on a white-water adventure through Captain Mary Oceanear’s past.

According to legend, Captain Oceanear was a treasure-hunting heroine who traveled the world collecting artifacts before being stranded at Typhoon Lagoon.

The two-minute long ride is the lengthiest attraction at the Disney Water Parks.
