What a week in Disney news! The #AwakenSummer press event was full of exciting news about the Walt Disney World Resort this week.
Perhaps the biggest story of the week was the news that Disney’s Animal Kingdom was finally extending park hours starting Memorial Day Weekend. The park will be open until 11 p.m. and guests can experience several new nighttime events, but not the much-anticipated Rivers of Light.
That show is delayed for a bit, but in its place a new nighttime show based on The Jungle Book is planned through the summer months.
We also heard an update on Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The new area will feature Slinky Dog Dash, a family-friendly coaster and another new attraction – Alien Swirling Saucers.
Over at Epcot guests can expect the new Frozen Ever After attraction and Soarin’ Around the World to both open in June! Characters from Finding Dory will also show up in Turtle Talk with Crush this summer.
If you’re planning on running the 2017 Walt Disney World Marathon, registration opens April 26 at runDisney.com.
And finally, if you’re visiting Disneyland Resort in May there is a great slate of special merchandise events planned.
That’s the big news from last week! We’re sure this week will be full of fun and exciting news too. Stay tuned to DisZine for all the Disney news every week. And be sure to follow us on Twitter and like us over on Facebook.
