The Walt Disney Company has announced that it is once again accepting applications for the Disney Accelerator.
This is the third Disney Accelerator program.
The program is to accelerate the growth of startup companies and 10 companies will be selected for the three-month mentorship and investment program. The Disney Accelerator concludes with a Demo Day in October.
“The past two years of the Disney Accelerator have led to incredible innovation and success between The Walt Disney Company and our participating startups, helping to establish the Disney Accelerator as the premier media and entertainment accelerator,” said Kevin Mayer, Chief Strategy Officer of The Walt Disney Company. “We look forward to further shaping the future of our industry through this unique program.”
The program provides selected companies with investment capital, access to co-working space at Disney’s creative campus, and more.
Sphero, a Denver-based company, joined the Accelerator in 2014 and most recently developed the BB-8 droid that was named the “Best Star Wars Toy Ever” by Forbes. The company has raised an additional $45 million in venture capital since completing the program.
Other companies that have completed the program include Naritiv, EMOTIV, and StatMuse.
Applications for this year’s Disney Accelerator are due April 10. For more information visit DisneyAccelerator.com.
