State officials are investigating an accident that occurred at Disneyland’s Space Mountain attraction, which left a 68 year old machinist with critical injuries.
The machinist was testing a vehicle on the ride at the time the accident occurred. Initial information reported the man, Christopher Monday, was struck by the vehicle, but how this happened is still being investigated. What we do know is that Monday suffered critical back, chest and head injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Suzi Brown, a spokeswoman for Disneyland Resort, said the ride had been cleared for normal operation and it did not malfunction.
The state investigation could take up to 6 months.
