Star Wars: Force For Change has announced its latest charitable campaign.
The initiative from Disney and Lucasfilm has teamed with eBay Giving Works to auction off a selection of plaster Stormtrooper helmet replicas that have been decorated by artists around the world.
“The Star Wars movies have always inspired a desire in people to help others, and we are extremely grateful that our fan community has been so generous with their time and efforts on behalf of the many charitable causes they support,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president, Lucasfilm Ltd. “Our hope is that Force For Change will harness that spirit of giving into a worldwide movement that uses the power and reach of Star Wars to help those around the world in need.”
The 10-day auction started on May 4 and bidders have a chance to compete for the one-of-a-kind helmets with a starting price of $5.04. The helmets were donated to U.S. Fund for UNICEF which will receive 100 percent of the final auction price for each helmet.
The funds will be used to support UNICEF Kid Power, a new program that uses the world’s first Wearable-For-Good to get kids active.
