Disney’s California Grill will be closing on February 1 for renovations, and our friends at the Disney Food Blog have given us a sneak peek at some of the new menu items diners can expect to see when the restaurant reopens late summer.
Despite the former sushi chef Yoshie Cabral’s retirement, sushi will still remain a large focus of the updated menu. Many of the new dishes will also take inspiration from traditional Japanese meals, such as Japanese-style Bone Marrow with Crunchy Panko and Sweet Onion Jam and Beef Tartare. Of course, traditional sushi aficionados will also have plenty to enjoy, including Sea Urchin Nigiri with Mamanori (soybean paper), Salmon Roe and fresh Wasabi Root.
Meanwhile, meat lovers will enjoy several new dishes and contemporary re-imaginings of some former menu items, such as the Pork and Polenta dish (which will be updated to Pork Two Ways.) Another signature meat dish will be the 24-hour Braised Beef Short Rib with Truffle Whipped Potatoes, Vol-au-Vent (puff pastry) with Roasted Vegetables and Natural Jus.
What are you looking forward to trying when Disney’s California Grill reopens?
