Bella Thorne – 15-year-old singer, dancer, and actress perhaps best known for her role as Cece Jones on Disney Channel’s hit television series Shake It Up – has just signed an agreement with Delacorte Press. (Books published by Delacourte include such popular titles as The Iron Thorn and the Fallen novels). The talented artist is now trying her hand at writing alongside co-author Elise Allen, a veteran author who has penned such works as Populazzi and the Elixir series with Hilary Duff.
Thorne is in the process of writing a young adult series, titled Autumn Falls, that is to be a mix of autobiography and fantasy. Says Thorne of her series:
“This book, although mysterious and magical, is inspired by different aspects of my personal life, which I hold very near and dear to my heart. I wanted to write a book that teens could relate to, but with a little bit of magic. I am thrilled and hopeful that my audience will grow with me throughout the series.”
Thorne has already proven her ability to speak to contemporary teens. Her personal narrative about overcoming dyslexia, “The Time I … (Dyslexia)” on the Disney Channel, was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award last year. She is also a Global Ambassador for StompOutBullying.org . Most recently, she won IMAGEN’s “Best Young Actress” in the Television category. As Beverly Horowitz, Publisher / VP for Delacourte, says, “Her authentic and passionate voice will captivate girl readers, who we know will relate to Bella and her characters.”
While specific details of the books are yet unknown, Thorne has revealed that the plot will include a 14-year-old protagonist whose life is unexpected altered after a brush with magic.
Will you begin to read Thorne’s series when the first book is released in summer 2014?
