Cinemablend is reporting that Disney Channel’s Selena Gomez has replaced Nicole Kidman in the upcoming film, Monte Carlo.
The film, based on the novel Headhunters, was developed in 2005 with Nicole Kidman as the star. But recently (and possibly as a result of movie execs realizing how much cash can be brought in from star-crazed teens) the screenplay was re-written to portray and appeal to a younger crowd. Now, Gomez, Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and an as-yet-unknown third actress, will likely be playing three college girls who pose as socialites in Monte Carlo.
Nicole Kidman will be staying on as a producer of the film.
