Runners take your mark! The registration for runDisney’s Princess Half Marathon opened Tuesday, June 11, and one event has already sold out.
Registration opened at noon for all Princess Half Marathon events, and by late Tuesday afternoon the new-for-2014 Glass Slipper Challenge was sold out.
The Glass Slipper Challenge includes a total of 19.3 miles as runners will be participating in the Enchanted 10K race and the Princess Half Marathon. Runners completing the challenge will receive a finishers medal for the 10K, the half marathon, and the challenge.
Events for the half marathon weekend include the Princess Half Marathon, the Royal Family 5K, the Enchanted 10K, the Glass Slipper Challenge, kids races, a pasta party, breakfast, and the Fit for a Princess Expo. The Enchanted 10K – the other new race for 2014 – is a timed race through Epcot and the Epcot resort areas.
As of press time, the Enchanted 10K was at 60 percent capacity while the Princess Half Marathon was at 50 percent capacity.
The race weekend kicks off with the Fit for a Princess Expo on Thursday, February 20, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The expo runs from Thursday until Saturday, February 22. All runners must attend the expo in order to pick up their race number and race packet.
The Royal Family 5K – which has taken place on the Saturday of race weekend – takes place on Friday, February 21 and is being called the “Cinderella Royal Family 5K.” The kids races are also scheduled for Friday and are open to all kids ages 13 and younger. Every prince and princess who participates in the kids races will receive a finisher medallion. Kids races include a 200m, 400m, Diaper Dash, and One Mile fun run.
And finally, the Princess Half Marathon takes place on Sunday of race weekend on a 13.1 mile course that includes the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Runners can also register to run the half marathon with a partner. Everyone who completes the half marathon within the required pace time will be awarded the newly-designed Princess Half Marathon medal.
Early entry fees for the races are as follows: Disney Princess Half Marathon – $160 by August 20, Disney Enchanted 10K – $95 by August 20; Cinderella Royal Family 5K – $60 per participant; runDisney Kids Race – $15 per Kids Dash participant and $30 per One Mile Run participant. Prices for the half marathon, 10K, and Glass Slipper Challenge increase after August 20.
