Composer and singer Randy Newman took home his fifth Grammy this weekend, as the Recording Academy awarded him the Best Score Soundtrack Album prize for “Toy Story 3” at Sunday night’s star-studded ceremony.
This marks the fourteenth nomination for Newman, who has been a fixture in the world of film composition for more than twenty years. Newman’s album beat out another Disney contender, Alice in Wonderland, to take home honors.
Newman was also nominated in the category of Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media, for the “The Princess and the Frog” song “Down in New Orleans,” but lost out to “Crazy Heart’s” “The Weary Kind.”
