The wait is over: Pollo Campero is open for business at Downtown Disney in Orlando, and the space that was once occupied by McDonald’s is serving tasty, Latin-inspired chicken and side dishes to hungry shoppers. You can find a recent review of Pollo Campero on the Disney Food Blog.
Pollo Campero specializes in signature chicken dishes and side dishes with a Latin flavor, like their unique yuca fries. But in an effort to keep with Disney’s new commitment to offer delicious yet healthy options, the restaurant, which has locations in twelve countries, is also offering Fresh A-peel, a line of all natural burgers, salads, wraps, and gluten-free sweet treats.
Offerings range from grilled chicken, to a crispy chicken, lightly breaded and fried in a pressure cooker, without trans-fat. Sides are colorful, vibrant and fresh, with lots of herbs, citrus fruit, and vegetables. Salads are made with locally grown greens, and to accompany the tasty food, the restaurant offers a salsa bar, complete with zippy options like jalepenos, to top any of the menu items.
And don’t forget dessert: courtesy of Babycakes NYC, Erin McKenna brings to the table healthy, unprocessed sweet treats, ranging from cupcakes to donuts to cookies – all without gluten, dairy, or eggs.
Opened just in time for the season rush, Pollo Campero should be a welcome addition to the Downtown Disney dining options. We’ll be interested to see what patrons have to say.
