The plot for Finding Dory has been released and perhaps the biggest news is that the movie’s setting isn’t the ocean.
According to Pixar President Jim Morris, the new film will take place at the Marine Biology Institute of California.
The film takes place after Nemo, Marlin, and Dory return to Nemo’s home on the reef. Dory goes on a school field trip with Nemo and has to face memories of her past and her family.
Nemo, Dory, and Marlin travel (by sea, of course) to the Marine Biology Institute of California, where Dory was born and raised before being released into the big blue ocean at a young age.
Ellen DeGeneres returns as the voice of Dory and Albert Brooks will once again voice Marlin. Other actors reportedly in the film including Eugene Levy as Dory’s father Charlie, and Diane Keaton as Dory’s mom Jenny. Modern Family’s Ty Burrell will voice a Beluga whale named Bailey.
Finding Dory is set to swim into theaters on June 17, 2016.
