Since the horrific earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on March 12, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea have been closed to the public. The operator of both parks, the Oriental Land Company, has now said they expect both parks to be re-opened sometime in April.
Neither park sustained more than minor damage during the devastating quake, but frequent rolling blackouts had prevented the parks from functioning normally. Now, officials are considering which options to take regarding power usage when the parks do eventually re-open. Sources say park officials are considering closing the parks at dusk, or opening them on alternate days.
Whatever the case may be, April was slated to be a huge month for Tokyo Disneyland – celebrations for the resort’s 10th anniversary were scheduled to begin April 23. While officials are hopeful the parks will open next month, an actual date has not been set.
