Every year around this time a renewed interest emerges for Tim Burton’s cult Halloween love story “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Jack and Sally tug at tattered heart strings while quirky characters like “Oogie Boogie” provide spooktacular Halloween antics. Disney often re-releases the film in 3D for the Halloween season & fans don their glasses to relive the experience on the big screen year after year.
This year, Disney is giving movie goers a cool trick and a special Halloween treat; “The Nightmare Before Christmas” in 4D! Unfortunately the experience will only be available at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California but knowing Disney they’ll hopefully expand the use of the technology if fans respond well. So what does the 4D movie experience involve? According to FirstShowing.net, “they’ll have special effects in the theater itself, such as wind and fog” to coordinate with scenes in the movie. Elements of the 4D movie experience can be seen in some Disney Park attractions like “Philharmagic,” “It’s Tough to be a Bug,” “Muppet Vision 3D” and the now defunct “Honey I Shrunk the Audience.” This will be the first time that Disney will release a 4D movie experience at the El Capitan.
Information about show times & tickets can be found on the official El Capitan website.
