The winner of the 2015 Disney Princess Half Marathon crossed the finish line just one year after breaking her hip and fearing she’d never run again.
Lauren Passell from New York City crossed the finish line at 1:22:59, a time that was almost 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher, Heather Schulz of Orlando. The third place finisher was Mariela Ortiz from Argentina.
More than 49,500 runners – the majority of whom were women – participated in the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend events including a 5K, 10K, and the half marathon. More than 24,000 runners raced in the half marathon on Sunday.
Runners who completed the Glass Slipper Challenge finished the 10K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday.
The Princess Half Marathon is one of two women-focused events from runDisney – the other is the Tinker Bell Half Marathon which takes place in May at Disneyland Resort.
