Disney has announced another new restaurant for Disney Springs.
Chef Art Smith – best known as the founder of Art and Soul in Washington, D.C., and as Oprah’s former chef – is opening a new restaurant in Disney Springs in 2016. The celebrity chef is also well-known for his appearances on Iron Chef America and Top Chef Masters.
The new eatery’s name is Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine. The name was inspired by Chef Smith’s status as a Florida native. The chef also completed a culinary internship at the Walt Disney World College Program.
The restaurant is described as “rustic-chic” and the menu will reportedly features items inspired by the farm-to-fork cooking that Chef Smith is famous for.
Items on the Homecoming include pimento cheese, Church Lady Deviled Eggs, Low Country Shrimp and Grits, and a Mockingbird Pie for dessert. Other desserts will be made and shipped daily from a Hamilton County bakery.
The restaurant will feature a show kitchen and a Southern Shine bar serving up “whimsical cocktails, punches and coolers.”
