To celebrate their team’s 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman and rookie Malcom Butler are headed to Disneyland.
At the end of the game Sunday night both players shouted the famous words “We’re going to Disneyland!” in an ad that can be seen online and on air.
This afternoon (February 2) Edelman and Butler will be part of a celebratory parade down Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland and will be joined by Mickey Mouse. After the parade the players will participate in a press conference.
The “I’m Going to Disneyland” commercials have been produced for the last 28 years, with the first commercial airing in 1987 featuring New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms after his team won Super Bowl XXI. This latest ad is the 48th in the series. Other players that have appeared in the ads include Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Kurt Warner, Coach Jon Gruden, Magic Johnson, and Jerry Rice.
The last time two players visited a Disney theme park after winning the Super Bowl was in 2009 when Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes visited after the Pittsburgh Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII.
