The Disney Store was honored with the Bronze Award in the New Retail Frontiers category at the 2011 Edison Best New Products Awards this week. The awards, named for Thomas Alva Edison, are given to innovative and creative companies who symbolize the qualities Edison personified: persistence and excellence.
The award was presented to Disney Store for their brand new interactive store design that also delivers “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day,” and entertains millions of patrons around the world. In fact, Disney Store’s new design features engaging activities to excite children who visit the store, including a Disney Princess Castle with magic mirror, as well as Ridemakerz custom car building workshop featuring characters from the popular Disney Pixar Cars franchise, and much more.
Disney currently has 20 of the newly re-imagined stores open globally, with more than 25 new locations planned to open in 2011 internationally. Its flagship store opened late last year in Times Square.
President of Disney Stores Worldwide Jim Fielding said that “Disney Store is proud of the success of our new store design, and it is an honor to be acknowledged at the Edison Awards in the company of such great visionaries.”
The nominees for the award were judged by 2,000 members of the Marketing Executives Networking Group.
