Disney Channel has announced that their newest comedy series, Austin & Ally, will debut on the channel on Sunday, December 4 at 8:00 PM EST/PST. The series follows two polar opposites: Austin, an outgoing musician/singer, and Ally, a shy but brilliant songwriter.
Starring in the new series will be newcomer Ross Lynch as Austin, Laura Marano (“Without a Trace,” “Back to You”) as Ally, Raini Rodriguez (Disney’s “Prom,” “I’m in the Band”) as Trish and Calum Worthy (“Psych,” “Good Luck Charlie”) as Dez. In the show’s premiere episode, Austin, eager to film a new music video, puts pressure on Ally to finish a new song, leading her to scribble some lyrics down that are illegible. Trish and Dez misunderstand the lyrics, gathering some strange items that they think correspond to what Ally wrote, and when the strange items start arriving, the group must work together to resolve the mix-up.
A preview episode of Austin and Ally will be available for fans as a free download on iTunes November 22, and on DisneyChannel.com December 3. A preview of the show will also be shown on Disney Channel Friday, December 2 at 9:30 PM EST/PST, immediately following the debut of the new Disney Channel Original Movie, Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!.
Executive producing Austin & Ally are the show’s creators, Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (“Good Burger,” “Kenan & Kel,” Disney Channel’s “Sonny With A Chance” and “JONAS”). Shelley Jensen (“Good Luck Charlie,” “Shake It Up”) directed the show’s pilot, and the series is a production of It’s a Laugh Productions, Inc.
