Pandora – The World of Avatar opens May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney is giving guests more details about the highly-anticipated land.
The new land is the largest addition ever at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and, according to Disney, will carry on Animal Kingdom’s “tradition of celebrating the intrinsic value of nature, transformation through adventure, and a personal call to action.”
Pandora is based on James Cameron’s film AVATAR, and features a land that exists after the end of the conflict between the humans and the Na’vi.
The land features floating mountains, bioluminescent plants, and more. To enter Pandora, guests will travel across Discovery River and through a winding rainforest path where they’ll first see the floating mountains.
Two new attractions are located on Pandora: Avatar Flight of Passage and the family-friendly Na’vi River Journey.
Guests will also encounter creatures of all shapes and sizes on Pandora and the landscape “reinforces messages intrinsic to Disney’s Animal Kingdom” including adventure and conservationism.
A new fast-casual dining location, Satu’li Canteen, will open on May 27 along with the new drink kiosk Pongu Pongu. The menu at Satu’li Canteen represents the “healthful bounty” on Pandora.
At Windtraders guests will find merchandise including Na’vi cultural items, toys, science kits, passports, and more.
Pandora will begin welcoming guests (eco-tourists) on May 27.
