Disney Consumer Products recently launched a nationwide search for the Winnie the Pooh “Storyteller of the Year.” The contest celebrates teaching children creativity and life lessons through storytelling.
“Pooh teaches us about friendship, adventure, and to appreciate the simple things in life,” said Stephen Teglas, vice president of classic franchises for Disney Consumer Products. “Through the ‘Storyteller of the Year’ contest we hope to capture some of these sweet family moments and encourage parents to use their best storytelling abilities to spark their child’s imagination and create long-lasting memories.”
To enter the contest, families need to create a one-minute video that is “sweet like hunny, full of wonder, or funny” as they read a Winnie the Pooh story to their children, while showcasing their favorite Pooh items. These props can include Pooh plush toys, puppets, blankets or other Pooh items. Videos can be submitted online at DisneyStore.com/PoohStoryteller or from your mobile device from April 22 until May 15. Parents and guardians interested in entering the contest can choose from three Winnie the Pooh stories – A Blustery Day, Happy Mother’s Day, and A Bouncy Babysitter.
Disney Consumer Products will choose the winning video based on creativity, integration of Winnie the Pooh items, and whether or not the video captures the essence of Winnie the Pooh. The grand prize winner receives a trip to Los Angeles for a family of four and an assortment of Winnie the Pooh products including toys, books, and gift. The winner will be officially crowned “Storyteller of the Year” on June 9 at the “PLUSH: the posh little urbanites show,” where they will also read a Pooh story to kids, families, and celebrities.
The winning video will be included in an upcoming version of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh: Wonder and Wander app. Fans can also select a “fan favorite” video and the winner of contest will receive a collection of Winnie the Pooh products.
