Fans of Radio Disney and the Disney Channel will be in for a treat on October 14, as music talent show N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) will return for its fourth season that day. The 10-week competition, hosted by Jake Whetter, will feature five performers, each vying for the top prize: the opportunity to record an original single that will be released by Disney Music Group.
Throughout the competition, the competitors will have their music featured on Radio Disney and the Disney Channel. The competitors will also be interviewed by Radio Disney personality Ernie D. New voting elements this season will give fans the chance to vote for their favorite performer through RadioDisney.com, Radio Disney’s official Facebook page, or by texting “NBT” to DISNEY (347639). The number of listener votes will control which competitor faces elimination at the end of each round.
The five performers competing in this season of N.B.T. are Tay Barton, Zack Montana, Ladina Spence, Shealeigh and pop/rock band Hollywood Ending. Radio Disney’s current lineup includes such popular music artists as Selena Gomez & the Scene, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Willow Smith, Cody Simpson, Katy Perry, Taio Cruz and Allstar Weekend.
“We have seen great success with our N.B.T. artists including Allstar Weekend who are currently on tour with Selena Gomez & the Scene, Kicking Daisies who is part of this year’s Vans Warped Tour and Coco Jones, who is a recurring guest star on Disney Channel’s So Random!,” said Kelly Edwards,executive director of music and programming at Radio Disney.
Can’t wait for October 14? As previously announced, the newest N.B.T. artists will also be on-hand at the upcoming D23 Expo to greet guests and perform. Fans can catch the N.B.T. artists’ performance at the Expo on Friday, August 19 at 3:00 PM.
