We have some exciting news to share with you today: the classic mountain climbers are returning to Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction this summer.
When the ride first opened at Disneyland in 1959, the climbers were a part of the attraction. Disney even went so far as to give the climbers names like Hans, Fritz, and Otto. At one point, Mickey Mouse even climbed the 147-foot structure. Fans are excited about the climbers coming back, as many of them remember them as being part of the Matterhorn attraction when they were kids.
Disney began seeking applicants for the mountain climbing position recently, and have asked that all applicants have at least 3 to 5 years experience in mountaineering, rock climbing, and rappelling. Interviews were to be scheduled today.
The Matterhorn has been closed since January for an extensive renovation project, but visitors can expect the Matterhorn to reopen June 15 with a new coat of paint, new ride vehicles and, of course, the return of the Matterhorn climbers.
