More Than 17,000 Runners Set to Participate in Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend

This weekend the Happiest Place on Earth is playing host to more than 17,000 runners during the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.

The events for the weekend include the Disneyland Half Marathon, the Disneyland 10K, a Family Fun Run 5K, the Dumbo Double Dare, kids races, the race expo and a pasta party.

This year marks the debut of the Dumbo Double Dare, which is a 19.3 mile adventure that includes running the Disneyland 10K on Saturday followed by the Disneyland Half Marathon on Sunday. Participants who finish within pacing requirements will receive the Dumbo Double Dare medal in addition to the half marathon and 10K medals.

There are 17,800 runners registered for the half marathon – 5,300 are registered for the Dumbo Double Dare, 8,400 are registered for the 10K (this number includes the Dumbo Double Dare registrants), 5,000 runners are registered for the 5K, and 1,500 are registered for the Kids Races.

Additionally, there are 276 active military running in the Disneyland Half Marathon with 122 participating in the Dumbo Double Dare.

The runners hail from all 50 states plus Puerto Rico, and 15 countries including Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Brazil. There are 8,217 California residents in the half marathon.

The youngest runner in the Dumbo Double Dare and Half Marathon is 14 years old, and the oldest female runner for the entire weekend is 81. The oldest male runner is 80 years old.
