Disney announced more details about the new Rivers of Light Show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom during the D23 Expo last weekend.
The Rivers of Light show will take place on Discovery River which is located between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest. The show will combine live performers with floating lanterns, water screens, and animal imagery.
Imagineer Joe Rohde said the show “takes the idea of the special nature of the animals” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and turns it into a “celebration of the beauty of these animals.”
Another new nighttime event is the Sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris, which is a nighttime tour of the African savanna as the sun sets. Guests who visit the Kilimanjaro Safaris at night will also get to see the African wild dogs and hyenas.
There is no official word yet as to when Rivers of Light or the Sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris will begin.
