At the blue carpet premier event for Disney’s highly-anticipated “World of Color” show in California Adventure Geoff Boucher, “Los Angeles Times” Entertainment blogger, asked Disney President & CEO Bob Iger if guests were going to see Marvel characters in the Disney Parks anytime soon. What was his answer? Managing to stay fairly neutral, Iger still revealed that it’s likely.
“We’re just now considering all of our different options, so it would be premature to say when or where in the parks you would see Marvel characters — but I think it’s safe to say that you’re going to see some of those great Marvel characters walking around in the future.” – Reported by the L.A. Times
“Disney’s California Adventure” is currently undergoing it’s largest facelift since opening in 2001. A valuable piece of Disney real estate that’s been struggling to find it’s own identity for years is now emerging with the highly-praised “World of Color” show, some new “E-ticket” attractions coming soon, and a redesign of it’s entry plaza & Paradise Pier. If you had only visited “Disney’s California Adventure” back in the early days & decided to revisit soon you may just think you were in a whole different park.
Amongst the anticipation & talk about the reimagineering of DCA there have been secondary rumors focusing on if & when Marvel characters might appear in Disney parks. Since Disney’s acquisition of Marvel back in January, Marvel merchandise starting appearing in dribs & drabs; most notably in “Disney’s California Adventure” Park, around the Disneyland Resort, on Disney shopping on-line, and in few stores at Walt Disney World.
One must wonder if Marvel characters could start appearing as part of the newly redesigned “California Adventure” park sometime in the future, especially considering Mr. Iger’s response.
