For the first time since acquiring the comic book company in 2009, Disney will finally be introducing Marvel characters into a theme park setting.
According to sources, the Marvel Adventure family entertainment center (which will be part of the City of Arabia entertainment and residential district in Dubailand) will comprise 8 acres and be an indoor miniature theme park. There will be superhero themed attractions, restaurants and shops and the park will feature many recognizable Marvel characters like the Avengers, Spider-Man and more.
Initially, a full-size Marvel theme park was going to be opened in Dubai, but those plans were put on hold during the economic crisis that plagued the globe.
While it appears this new theme park will be the first Disney-owned property to feature Marvel characters, it’s doubtful it will be the last. Disneyland Paris has already spoken about their dream of a Marvel superhero theme park as part of their long-term plans for the resort.
The Marvel Adventure family entertainment center is slated to open sometime in 2013.
