Mark Peter Hughes’s teen novel-turned-movie Lemonade Mouth premieres tonight on the Disney Channel, but according to sources he’s already working on the sequel! Says Hughes:
I have been writing the sequel…in fact, I just printed out a big chunk of the manuscript for my kids to read. And I’m anxious to hear about what they think about this continuation of Charlie, Mo, Olivia, Stella and Wen’s story.
To hear Hughes’s tell it, though, the shock of having his book picked up by Disney Channel was not something he’d ever expected. When asked in an interview whether he thought something like this could happen, Hughes’s was quite adamant: “Never in a million years,” he says. “I mean, it was a thrill to get a phone call from Debra Martin Chase and then have her say that she just loved ‘Lemonade Mouth’ and that she wanted to turn my book into a movie. But I never actually believed that it was ever going to happen.”
Don’t forget to check out Lemonade Mouth on the Disney Channel tonight, April 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
