On Friday, August 10, The Lion King wing at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort officially opened. This wing of the resort features family suites themed after the 1994 movie as well as public areas that depict scenes and characters from the classic film.
In the public areas, the landscape was re-created to resemble the Pride Lands of Africa, with large character replicas to help guests feel like they’re immersed in the storyline. These character replicas also provide a great opportunity for photos! King Mufasa, Scar, Rafiki, Zazu, Timon, Pumbaa and the trio of hyenas are all present.
In addition to the public areas, the family suites also continue the Lion King theme. The living room area of the suites include bug-shaped chairs, wildlife decor and flower-shaped lamps while the bedroom features Zazu prominently on the headboard. In the bathrooms, Pumbaa and Timon hang out on the shower curtain.
This is the third wing that has opened at the Art of Animation Resort. The fourth and final wing, themed after The Little Mermaid, will open September 15, 2012.
