Disney’s Monstrous Summer kicks off next month when three Disney theme parks will stay open for 24 hours on Memorial Day Weekend. The Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure will be open from 6 a.m. local time on May 24 until 6 a.m. local time May 25.
The announcement of this first ever Disney parks “All-Nighter” was made last night at Epcot as Spaceship Earth was transformed into a 180-foot-tall animated Mike Wazowski, the lovable one-eyed monster star of Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University.
“This summer, Disney Parks are bursting with a monstrous lineup of new thrills, shows and happenings,” said Walt Disney World President George Kalogridis. “Guests can start Memorial Day Weekend with a 24-hour-marathon of memory-making as three Parks stay open all day and all night to celebrate the bi-coastal kick-off of a Monstrous Summer at Disney Parks.”
During the All-Nighter, the Magic Kingdom will feature a I theme with Mike and Sully acting as the Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade. They’ll also make appearances in Tomorrowland. Other characters will visit Town Square in their pajamas during the late night and early morning, and there will be late-night dance parties around Cinderella Castle.
Guests at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure can enjoy a Monsters University “TLT Monstrous Dance Club” and a late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s ToonTown. The FanstayFaire Royal Theater at Disneyland will become a Royal Dance Hall with a live band, while guests at Disney California Adventure will enjoy Monstrous photo opportunities at the new MU dorms in HollywoodLand.
The three parks will also feature specialty merchandise and special food and beverage choices, along with other surprises.
