Originally, David Slade was slated to helm Disney’s adaptation of Matched, a young adult novel written by Ally Condie. Now, sources are reporting that GI Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu is set to direct Disney’s adaptation of the book.
Matched is a young adult romance novel set in a dystopian future where everyone’s fate is pre-determined by the state. No one in the society can choose who to love, when to marry or any other decisions that we all take for granted. Eventually, the 17 year old protagonist, Cassia, decides that enough is enough and embarks on a journey to battle the state for the right for her – and her people – to make their own decisions.
Few details are known about Disney’s adaptation at this point, but we’ll update you with more information when it becomes available.
