Hong Kong Disneyland had its most successful year ever in 2013 and set attendance and hotel occupancy records for the fourth straight year.
The success was due in part to the opening of Mystic Point in May 2013, Grizzly Gulch in 2012, and Toy Story Land in 2011. The three themed areas increased the size of the park by one fourth.
Adding to the ongoing success of the park, it was announced this week that Hong Kong Disneyland is planning to build a 750-room Disney-branded hotel.
The hotel – which should be open in 2017 – will be themed around the spirit of exploration and will celebrate exotic locations around the world. This resort will increase the number of rooms on property by 75 percent.
This year Hong Kong Disneyland is set to introduce a new nighttime experience called Disney Paint the Night. In 2016 the Iron Man-themed area of the park will open featuring the Iron Man Experience. This attraction – Disney’s first major attraction based on a Marvel character – gives guests the chance to battle aliens alongside Tony Stark.
