Ever since its initial announcement in October, we’ve been eagerly waiting for more news on the upcoming Star Wars sequel. This week, a major new development occurred, as it was unofficially announced that Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as the legendary Han Solo.
The news of Ford’s involvement was announced by movie and pop culture website Latino Review, which reports that Ford’s deal with Lucasfilm and Disney is “done” and “significant.” Disney and LucasFilm have not released any official announcements yet regarding Ford’s participation in the film, or any further casting.
While we’re still waiting on official confirmation of Ford’s involvement in the film, the iconic actor has previously expressed his interest in being involved with Star Wars: Episode VII. In November, Entertainment Weekly quoted a source close to the film, who revealed that Ford, along with his original Star Wars co-stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, was “open to the idea of doing the movie” and “upbeat” about reprising his role.
Stay tuned for more news on this exciting casting information and the upcoming Star Wars films. Star Wars: Episode VII will debut in theaters in 2015.
