The Ginza Tanaka jewelry store, located in downtown Tokyo, is selling a real gold Christmas tree adorned with 50 Disney characters, golden chains and a tri-circle Mickey head tree topper. The 8-foot tree was comprised of 88 pounds of gold and is selling for 350 million yen, equivalent to around $4.2 million dollars.
The jewelry store collaborated with Walt Disney Japan to design the impressive tree, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney. Ten people labored over the tree for 2 months, which included the laborious work of hand-cutting and polishing each Disney character.
The store is also selling a miniature version of the multi-million dollar tree. Made of silver and featuring 20 Disney characters, the Disney Mini Christmas Tree retails for $243,000.
