The second annual Florida Cup soccer tournament kicks off January 10 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Some of the players expected at the tournament include Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho, who is playing for Fluminense FC and Renato Augusto, Chicharito Hernandez, the Mexican National team star playing for Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning Brazil League MVP who leads SC Corinthians, and Santa Fe’s Omar Perez.
Nine teams are playing in the Florida Cup this year – up from four teams in 2015 – including two-time FIFA World Champion SC Corinthians and Champions League club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The tournament starts Sunday, January 10 with a doubleheader between Santa Fe (Columbia) and Bayer (Germany). The Florida Cup action continues through January 20 with matches also taking place in Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale.
