Ever since their initial announcements at the 2011 D23 Expo, we’ve been eagerly waiting for more information about Pixar’s upcoming films, which include The Good Dinosaur and The Inside Out. This week, we got a little bit of information about these intriguing projects, as the first pieces of concept art were released for the two films, as well as Lee Unkrich’s upcoming “Dia de los Muertos” film.
These pieces were revealed through a Pixar holiday card, which also included the previously released concept art from the upcoming Monsters University. The first piece of concept art is from The Good Dinosaur, which is currently slated for release on May 30, 2014. Directed by Bob Peterson, the film explores the following question: “What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?” Here’s the concept art:
The next piece comes from Pete Docter’s next film, which is tentatively titled The Inside Out and will be released June 19, 2015. Originally announced as “The Untitled Pixar Movie that Takes You Inside the Mind,” Pixar teases that the film “will take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind.” Check out the concept art below:
Finally, we also got our first look at the furthest out film on the list, Lee Unkrich‘s untitled Dia de los Muertos film. Currently slated for release in 2016, the film will focus on a family during the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. Here’s our first teaser of this new film:
These concept art images make us even more excited for these interesting new projects, and we can’t wait to hear more about what Pixar has in store. Stay tuned for more news on these exciting new films.
