Yesterday, we brought you the news that the membership list for Club 33 has opened up once again and members will be able to enjoy the added benefit of access to the new and exclusive “1901” lounge. Now, we have a special first look at this brand new lounge, thanks to the Disney Parks Blog.
1901 will be a new lounge located within the Carthay Circle Theater, which is being built as the centerpiece of Disney California Adventure’s new Buena Vista Street. The intimate lounge, which is only open to Club 33 members, is named after the year Walt Disney was born and will be filled with “eclectic light fixtures, overstuffed leather chairs, and beautiful, rich touches.” On the walls will be photographs and personal artwork from the animators in the studio’s early years, including some artwork made by Walt Disney himself.
About the theming of the new lounge, Imagineer Ray Spencer says:
“Imagine it’s the 1930s, and this is where the animators would’ve hung out, swapped stories, doodled on napkins. This is the place Walt and the animators might’ve chatted, relaxed, unwound . . . a cozy den. (…) The guest is sort of an insider in this backstage world.”

Buena Vista Street, including the Carthay Circle Theatre, is currently scheduled to open at Disney California Adventure on June 15. To request more information about joining Club 33, send an email to [email protected].
