This year’s Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will feature the first-ever culinary demonstrations free of the top eight food allergens.
This news comes from Disney and Mylan, the company that produces the EpiPen® Auto-Injectors.
The two companies recently teamed up for the EpiPen® On Location™ initiative which is “a national call-to-action for those living with potentially life-threatening (severe) allergies and their caregivers to understand the importance of avoiding allergic triggers and having access to two epinephrine auto-injectors, such as EpiPen® (epinephrine injection) Auto-Injectors, at all times — whether at home, school, work or on vacation.”
The new culinary demos will take place at the Festival Center from October 2-4. Chef and restaurateur Amanda Freitag will be preparing allergy-free dishes during the demo that are free of milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
Chef Freitag lives with a hazelnut allergy and is an EpiPen® On Location™ ambassador.
And to help spread awareness about food allergies Mylan is giving away a 3-night/4-day vacation for four to the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Three grand prize winners will win a vacation that includes a meet-and-greet with Chef Freitag and Disney Channel star Auggie Maturo, tickets to a culinary demonstration, a vacation kit prepared by Nina Garcia (Project Runway) whose son lives with food allergies, a stay in a Disney World Resort hotel, theme park tickets, and more.
