Shoe lovers and Disney fans are in for a treat this fall, as DSW and Disney have recently announced that the two companies will be celebrating the release of Cinderella on Blu-ray with a limited edition footwear collection. The new line of shoes, which will be on sale at DSW stores and online beginning in October, blends the elegance and style of the classic Disney tale with modern footwear trends.
‘The inspiration for the line came from the vision of Disney artist Mary Blair’s original art for the film,’ says Debbie Ferrée, Vice Chairman, EVP of Merchandising for DSW. ‘We took a close look at the film’s aesthetic details — the rich textures and fabric, the beautiful blue in Cinderella’s dress, even the French rococo-inspired scenery. Every whimsical touch featured in the footwear collection came right out of the film.’
This new collection comes soon after Christian Louboutin designed his own take on Cinderella’s glass slippers, but thankfully for shoe buyers, this collection will be much easier to add to your own wardrobe. The Glass Slipper Collection will consist of five styles of elegant high heels in various colors, ranging in price from $59.95 to $89.95. Each shoe will be marked with a blue jewel and embossed carriage logo on the sole, making these limited edition shoes a collector’s item as well. Director of Disney Consumer Products Robert Oberschelp says:
‘The Glass Slipper Collection captures the beauty and sophistication of Cinderella, tapping into the childhood affinity women have for this beloved character while creating footwear that is relatable to their lives as adults.’
