Disney is gleefully reporting that its “Tap Tap Revenge 4” game has been downloaded 6 million times since its introduction on December 20. Six million times. In 22 days.
The little birds with an attitude problem have officially been knocked of their perky perch as iTunes’ most downloaded free app. At least temporarily.
The news signals that Disney made a good choice in purchasing Tapulous Inc., the creator of the tap-along game, last July to bolster Disney Interactive’s performance. And even though “Tap Tap” is free, Tapulous is still making money for Disney, since its flagship game gives players the option to purchase songs.
Disney says that users are downloading the latest version at twice the pace of the 2009 release.
