Last year, Playdom scored big with Gardens of Time, the most popular Facebook game. Since then, Disney-owned Playdom has released another hidden-object game entitled Blackwood and Bell Mysteries, and will be adding yet another title to the fast-growing hidden object social game genre – Disney Animal Kingdom Explorers.
The new game takes inspiration from Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park in Florida, and players will be able to create their own wildlife nature preserve around the Tree of Life. Players will also be able to search for a variety of hidden objects in various scenes from the Rocky Mountains to the Amazon and everywhere in between.
Despite the fact the game is targeted towards older female Facebook users, Eric Todd, vice president of product at Playdom and creative director on Animal Kingdom Explorers believes the game has the potential for wider appeal. He says:
We wanted to pick a theme that was more universal, and everyone loves animals and nature. We went to the park and we knew that this was the game we wanted to make.
While this game will appeal to anyone who enjoys animals, nature and hidden-object games, Animal Kingdom Explorers is also educational. When the game launches in the next few weeks, there will be a total of 36 scenes scattered throughout six different chapters, with more content to be launched on Earth Day, April 22.
