Disney’s Club Penguin, a hugely popular virtual world for kids, has seen record traffic numbers since the launch of their Avengers-themed event: Marvel Super Hero Takeover, which launched on June 14 and ends today.
Disney Interactive says that since the event, twenty million play sessions have been logged across 200 different countries on Club Penguin. The company also says that the Marvel event has helped double the site’s daily players.
During this event, players are able to dress up as one of 14 Marvel heroes or villains. Sources say that the Iron Man costume has been the most popular with players while Captain America’s shield has been the most popular item kids have bought with their virtual coins.
