Beginning today, Disney’s Club Penguin kicks off its annual “Coins for Change” charity event, which allows players to convert their virtual coins into real-world cash to donate to needy charities.
While Club Penguin has hosted this annual event since 2007, this year they will be adding a virtual bake sale to the event. Players can virtually bake cookies, then buy them with their earned virtual coins to help determine which charity Club Penguin will donate one million dollars to. For the past six years, Club Penguin has donated over $9 million to charities worldwide.
Despite the seriousness of their charity drive, Club Penguin will reward players for helping out by allowing them to temporarily transform into holiday characters. “Coins for Change” will run until January 2.
