Disney’s latest animated film – Big Hero 6 – and the newest animated short, Feast, have earned a total of eight nominations for the 42nd annual Annie Awards.
The awards are presented by the International Animated Film Society and are considered the highest honor for an animated film.
The Annie Awards cover 36 categories including Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Special Production, Short Subjects, Commercials, and Outstanding Individual Achievements.
This year Disney’s hit animated film Frozen won for Best Animated Feature and four other categories, and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Get A Horse! won for Best Animated Short.
Big Hero 6 was nominated for Best Animated Feature, Outstanding Achievement for Animated, Outstanding Achievement for Character, Outstanding Achievement for Directing, Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding, Outstanding Achievement in Writing, and Outstanding Achievement in Editorial.
Feast was nominated for Best Animated Short Subject.
Several Disney Channel and Disney Junior animated shows also received nominations including Doc McStuffins, Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder, and Marvel’s Avengers Assemble from Disney XD.
The 42nd Annual Annie Award winners will be announced on January 31, 2015 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
