Disneyland Resort Adds a Festive Latino Celebration to the Holiday Season with ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’

The Disneyland Resort is adding a new celebration to its holiday lineup with ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’

This merry celebration is inspired by the “warmth and joyous spirit of the Latino culture” and features holiday traditions, dancing, and music. The ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ celebration will take place around the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure.

Guests will have a chance to participate in special activities including crafts and face painting for kids, live Latino music, dance lessons, holiday food, a ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ Street Party, and meet-and-greet with Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and the Three Caballeros.

Paradise Garden will be decorated for the season with holly, banners, and Latino cultural icons including “papel picado” which are hand-cut paper art decorations.

The ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ Street Party is scheduled to happen at various times throughout each day of the celebration and will feature the Three Caballeros on a festive float, flag bearers, Mexican folklorico dancers, samba dancers, and giant Mojiganga puppets including Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Guests at ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ will have a chance to dine on Mexican holiday food including pozole (stew), chicken mole drumettes, pescado (fish), Veracruzano, champurrado (Mexican-style hot chocolate), sweet tamales, torta al pastor, buñuelos (deep-fried sweet treat), choco flan, and Rosca deReyes bread for the Three Kings Day celebration.

The Three Kings Day celebration (Dia de los Reyes) is the grand finale of ‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ and will happen from January 3 through January 6, 2014.

‘Disney ¡Viva Navidad!’ is scheduled to take place November 15 through January 6.
