Last year’s smash hit Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is getting the animation treatment on Disney XD starting this September.
The new animated series Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is set to premiere on Saturday, September 16 at 9:30 p.m. on Disney XD. The networks will give fans a sneak peek at the first episode on September 5 at 9 p.m.
And in August fans can check out 10 two-minute shorts on Disney XD that will tell the backstories of each of the five main characters in the show.
The animated series “features the themes of redemption and the importance of friendships and family told through a series of riveting sequential story arcs.”
The show will follow the newly formed team that has found an artifact keyed to the DNA of Peter Quill that unleashes a treasure map the Cosmic Seed. The Guardians must find, protect, and destroy the Cosmic Seed.
Characters from the film including Thanos, the Collector, the Grandmaster, and a resurrected Ronan will also be part of the series. Thor’s brother Loki will also make an appearance.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy starts Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) as the voice of Peter Quill/Star Lord, Trevor Devall (Johnny Test) as Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) as Gamora, David Sobolov (Transformers: Prime) as Drax the Destroyer, and Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show) as Groot.
